ABL was the sole internet provider for the fifth edition of the Amazon International Trade Fair, FIAM 2009, in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil from November 25 through 28 2009. ABL provided this service using one VSAT (satellite terminal) for the fair provider, and 3 VSATs combined with a router distributed to wireless access points for the rest of the participants, including the press.

ABL at FIAM 2009 Amazon International Trade Fair FIAM 2009, which attracted 380 exhibitors and over 100,000 attendees and generated more than $11 million (in USD) in new business immediately, with more to follow, included the participation of authorities and entrepreneurs of several countries.

ABL, in addtion to being the internet provider was also one of the exhibitors at the fair along with all the great companies of the Industrial District of Manaus, such as Moto Honda, Yamaha, Philips, Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic and more.

Besides exhibiting innovative products and services in areas such as the electro-electronic, information technology, two-wheel industries, and environmental services, FIAM 2009 also included several international seminars to discuss strategic regional issues, business and tourism round-table sessions, a projects room, scientific exhibitions, technically-oriented visits, and other activities meant for both investors and the general public.

At FIAM 2009 entrepreneurs had the opportunity to meet with suppliers and potential associates for the exploration of a wide range of businesses, either in the services sector or in the manufacturing of goods produced with Amazonian materials, ranging from extracts and oils supplied by the forest to investment possibilities provided by the Manaus Industrial District, one of the largest and most important in the continent.

ABL, a small but rapidly growing family owned business, has been providing internet service not only in Manaus, but in all of Amazônia since January of 2005. Amazônia consists of the nine states in Northern Brazil and makes up 60% of the Brazilian territory and 40% of the territory of South America. Much of the territory is accessible only by boat or float plane. In addition to internet service via satellite using both Ku Band and C Band VSATs for commercial, medical, governmental, and educational clients in areas currently without the necessary infrastructure, ABL provides corporate network installation and mantenance, and products and services in the field of Air Traffic Services, which includes both Physical and Electronics Infrastructure, Air Traffic Flow Management, and Security.

FIAM 2009 took place from November 25 to 28 2009, in Manaus, in Studio 5 Convention Center, near the Industrial District.

Manaus, a city of more than 2 million, is located 900 miles from the Atlantic coast on the Amazon River in the middle of the Amazon Rainforest, 3° south of the equator. It is the capital city of Amazonas state and home to the Manaus Free Trade Zone. Over 500 companies in the zone employed about 100,000 workers and generated 17 billion U.S. dollars in 2008, yet Manaus still depends on satellite technology as its sole source for telecommunications, both voice and data even the main phone company uses satellite as its only connection with the rest of the world to provide telephone and internet service.
